 Careers education is a basic and increasingly relevant component of student learning. It helps students understand how individual personality, abilities and interests relate to careers goals. Further it provides students with a connection to the wider world of work, further training and tertiary studies.
The Year 10 Careers program is designed to help students develop a deeper understanding of their options for the future.
This involves a consideration by each student of their own developmental traits, such as; a sense of self-identity, concern about social issues and an understanding of responsible decision making. Further, students consider how individual personality, abilities and interests relate to career goals.
Throughout the program students consider options such as; University, further training and/or entry into the job market. They will become more aware of transferable skills that can apply to a variety of occupations.

School based Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Once a fortnight, Years 11 and 12 students are involved in a Careers support period. This lesson is designed to provide students with access to a Careers Advisor and up-to-date information regarding tertiary courses, particular industries and the current job market. Students are encouraged to use this time to research a variety of potential pathways in order to make more realistic and accurate decisions about their futures.
The Careers Room is open every recess and lunchtime so that students can book in for an interview, search for information on the internet or browse the careers library. Parents can also contact the St Pat's Campus to make appointments to speak to the Careers Coordinator, Ms Judy Taylor.
