Instrumental Music
The College encourages all students to participate in the music programs offered, as the benefits of learning a musical instrument extend to all aspects of a student’s life. Through music, students acquire a life-long skill and their concentration, social skills and academic progress is enhanced. The instrumental music program at the College aims to provide music tuition for all instruments that students may wish to learn. Woodwind, Brass, Strings, Keyboard, Voice and Percussion are all catered for by our music staff.
The College has a number of bands including Rock, String and College Bands. A Junior band is formed at the Sion Campus for students who have not had an extensive musical background and the Senior College band has its base on the St Patrick’s Campus.
String ensembles are formed at each campus, a learning String group at the Sion campus and a Senior String group at the St. Patrick’s campus.
The College has recently introduced an exciting new innovation. The introduction of a Rock Band Program at the Sion Campus. This program will see the formation of a number of junior Rock bands.
A Campus choir exists at both the Sion Campus and the St Patrick’s Campus and from time to time, small a cappella student groups are formed. All the ensembles give public performances and participate in Eisteddfods which gives the musicians valuable performance experience.
