Marist Education
Catholic College Sale is a Marist school.
The Marist school should be characterized by a family spirit, evident in their sense of welcome, warmth and friendliness. The Constitutions of the Marist Brothers speak of this family spirit in terms of love and forgiveness, support and help, forgetfulness of self, openness to others and joy.
The Marist school gives priority to a pastoral care that is adapted to the needs of young people giving special attention to pupils who are in difficulty.
Marcellin Champagnat, the Founder of the Marist Brothers, believed that “to educate a child, the teacher must have a claim on the child's respect and obedience". Such a claim comes from a genuine love of the child.
"Being present” and "good example" were other elements that Champagnat regarded as being essential to good pedagogy. He often commented that the tone of the classroom was a good indicator of effective learning. The classroom should always be "calm and tranquil", non‑punitive, non‑fearful; an atmosphere of caring and an ease of relationships should prevail.
