Overview
The curriculum offered from Years 7 to 10 is designed to provide all students with a wide variety of educational experiences that will adequately prepare them for further study in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL), and enable them to take their place in society as well educated, responsible adults. Our curriculum offers subjects from each of the Key Learning Areas (KLAs), in addition to Religious Education. Students in Years 7 to 10 are required to study in each of these areas. The College is currently in the second year of implementation of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) at Years 7 to 10.
At the VCE level, students are required to study subjects in compliance with the rules and regulations set down by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). Students work towards the completion of either the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) – Intermediate or Senior.
Students in Years 7 to 9 follow a set curriculum. Students in Year 10 study English, Mathematics and Religious Education and also have the opportunity to select from a range of semester length units across the other KLAs as well as Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) units. Students have to meet certain minimum requirements in each KLA. In VCE, English is compulsory at Yr 11 and Yr 12. Religion & Society is compulsory at Yr 11 and involvement in the Yr 12 Religious Education Seminar Program is also a school requirement.
