Pastoral Care

The College’s Pastoral care Program…

The College’s Pastoral Care Program is an integral part of the College. Each student belongs to a Pastoral Group designed to nurture the relationships between students, teachers and parents and to give students a sense of belonging and self worth.PC
Catholic College Sale staff members are chosen because they are caring and compassionate and take a genuine interest in the lives of their students. The
Pastoral Teacher has immediate responsibility for monitoring the academic and general progress of the students in their care and is the parents’ first point of contact with the College.
The Year Level Leaders at the Sion Campus and the House Leaders at the St Patrick’s Campus work closely with the Pastoral Teachers. Together they attend to the total well-being of each young person.
The Pastoral Care Program is responsive to students with special needs, and encourages students to be considerate of themselves and others. It is committed to the fostering of students’ self discipline and responsibility and encourages students to become self aware. The Pastoral Care Program aims to nurture the whole person.
The Pastoral Care Program is committed to also helping students recognise that their rights are reciprocated by responsibilities. The College’s behaviour policies and rules promote respect for others and self discipline.
Restorative Justice practices, represent a philosophy which acknowledges that when one person does harm to another person they also harm themselves and the whole school community. Restorative Justice underpins
the discipline and welfare process at the College and aims to build quality relationships coupled with clear expectations and limits.
The Student Counsellors, Student Welfare Coordinator and College Chaplain are available to students on each campus. Their role is to provide pastoral assistance to members of the College community. Students and their parents are welcome to make use of the confidential counselling services provided by both the Counsellors and the Chaplain. Appointments may be made through the Office at either campus.
As an additional support for College families, parent forums are run throughout the year to support parents in dealing with adolescent issues.
