Tertiary Enhancement Studies
Tertiary Orientation Excursions
It is important that students make informed decisions about where they might choose to study and where they might live during their tertiary years. For country students, many of whom have spent very little time in Melbourne, the idea of leaving home to live in a place they have never seen can be a very daunting experience. Tertiary orientation Excursions are an excellent experience for interested students who feel the need to explore what is available to assist them in making these very important decisions.
In 2008, the College will be running two Tertiary Orientation Excursions one for Year 12 students in July and one for Year 11 students in December.
The sole purpose of these excursions is to give our students an opportunity to visit as many of the Universities, TAFE’s and private providers as possible, over a short period of time. The students will also stay overnight in University accommodation (Whitley College - Year 12 and Victoria University - Yr 11) and be able to talk to, and discuss key issues with University staff. This will hopefully assist them with their course selection and ultimately ensure their transition to Melbourne is as smooth as possible.
Although these excursions are optional, places are limited and students need to apply so that places are offered to the students who would benefit from the experience.
